JOIN WUPE FM FOR THE NORTH ADAMS ANNUAL TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY AND HOMETOWN HOLIDAYS KICK-OFF EVENT, 5-8PM
Join hundreds of festive faces as North Adams gears up for the holiday season with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and Hometown Holidays kick-off event on Wednesday, November 21 at 5 p.m. A crowd will gather around the tree at the monument and count down the seconds until the switch is thrown and thousands of twinkling lights adorn the downtown. To help evoke the season’s spirit, the Drury High School Band will be performing a series of holiday melodies and Christmas carols under the direction of Christopher Caproni.
After the tree lighting, keep an eye out for the North Adams Fire Department’s antique Mack Fire Engine as it makes its way through downtown to host the arrival Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, bearing gifts for the first 500 children. Goodie bags will include coloring books, crayons, candy canes, and more! Once you’ve got a goodie bag, stop downtown for entertainment and store specials.
This event is just the first of many for the North Adams Hometown Holidays series, a month of spirited fun, family activities and shopping bargains leading up to Christmas. This year, Hometown Holidays events will take place on the nights of November 29, December 6th, 13th, and 20th, from 5 to 8 p.m. and will feature a variety of specials and activities for people to enjoy downtown. Each Thursday will have something different. Attractions will include holiday crafts, face painting, live music, horse drawn carriage rides, DownStreet Art on Ice, and much more!
